The latest overused word bandied about by journalists, speech writers, non-profits is simply "simply." Enough! OK, I've used it on occasion in the last year, it is a point-maker. "The facts are simply this---" Now it is overused. An article in the Time-Standard a few weeks ago used "simple" and "simply" in the same two-sentence paragraph. I believe it was a quote, which reminds me that the PR types are as guilty as the talking heads. Please everyone, give "simply" a rest. Let it join the other overused words "tirelessly" and "nestled" in the trash heap. Is that simple enough?
